If you’re facility is subject to Spill Prevention, Control, & Countermeasure (SPCC) Regulations (find out more about SPCC Plans applicability), then you may be required to conduct an Annual SPCC Inspection, and review the SPCC Plan and update as needed annually .

What is an Annual SPCC Inspection?

The Steel Tank Institute (STI) Standard for the Inspection of Aboveground Storage Tanks (SP001) provides inspection and evaluation criteria required to determine the suitability for continued service of aboveground storage tanks (AST). The STI Standard requires periodic AST inspections which include annual, monthly, formal external, and/or formal internal inspections depending on the container category (1, 2, or 3) and size (gallons). If your site contains ASTs that are regulated by SPCC regulations, ensure that formal annual inspections are conducted as required.

What are Annual SPCC Plan Reviews?

The SPCC Regulations found in 40 CFR Part 112 requires the SPCC Plan to be reviewed annually and updated if needed. Annual SPCC Plan reviews should consist of a site inspection to verify all SPCC Plan contents are accurate and site specific.  Some changes require a professional engineer to review and re-certify the Plan.
